Sputtering technology from CemeCon – guarantor for extraordinary performance
No two coatings are the same
Unlike the arc PVD process, in the sputter PVD process the coating material is not melted on first of all but is transferred directly from a solid to a gaseous state. As a result, this process cannot cause the formation of droplets (bead-shaped macroparticles on the coating surface). This results in extremely smooth coatings. In addition, the temperature ranges in which sputter PVD coatings can be produced are substantially lower than in CVD processes. Theoretically speaking, there is no limit on the choice of elements - unlike the arc PVD and CVD processes. Sputter technology opens up a wealth of opportunities with regards to the selection and combination of coating materials.
Market leader in sputter technology
The sputter PVD process has formed the basis for high quality coatings for 20 years. During this time, we have developed coating systems which make economic processing of new materials possible for the first time and lead to a discernible improvement in the performance of the application.
Proof of this is provided by numerous patents for coatings, processes and technology. Already 1988, CemeCon succeeded in applying TiAlN coatings on an industrial scale.
